Grace Doesn't Mean You Have to Agree
"There's a version of grace that has been flattened into silence — where extending kindness is confused with endorsing every position someone holds."
Bonhoeffer called it cheap grace — forgiveness without repentance, kindness that asks nothing and therefore changes nothing. We live in a moment where that version of grace is everywhere. It feels loving. It costs nothing. And it leaves people exactly where they are.
Real grace — costly grace — tells the truth. Not to condemn. But because silence at the wrong moment is not kindness. It's abandonment dressed up as acceptance.
