Grace Doesn't Mean You Have to Agree
"There's a version of grace that has been flattened into silence, where extending kindness is confused with endorsing every position someone holds."
Bonhoeffer called it cheap grace: forgiveness without repentance, kindness that asks nothing and therefore changes nothing. We live in a moment where that version of grace is everywhere. It feels loving. It costs nothing. And it leaves people exactly where they are.
Real grace, costly grace, tells the truth. Not to condemn. But because silence at the wrong moment is not kindness. It's abandonment dressed up as acceptance.
